Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 25, 2026
The Ledger ("we," "us") is a personal archive for the movies, television, and books you experience. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the control you have over it. We do not sell your personal data.
1. Information you provide
- Account. When you sign up — including with Sign in with Apple — we receive an email address (Apple may provide a private relay address) and the username you choose.
- Profile. Optional display name, bio, profile photo, and banner image you add.
- Your library & content. The titles you log, your ratings, reviews, watchlists, favorites, custom lists, season/episode tracking, and any comments or reactions you post.
2. Information collected automatically
Basic technical and usage information needed to operate the app reliably (for example, app version and diagnostic data). We do not use third-party advertising trackers.
3. How we use your information
- To provide your account and your personal archive across devices.
- To power social features you choose to use — friends, the activity feed, leaderboards, and reactions.
- To generate your stats, ranks, and recommendations.
- To maintain security, prevent abuse, and improve the app.
4. What is visible to others
The Ledger includes social features. If you add friends or post content, certain information — your username, profile, ratings, reviews, lists, activity, and leaderboard standing — may be visible to friends or other members. Account-level details like your email are never shown to other users. You control what you post.
5. Third-party services
We rely on a small number of trusted services to run the app:
- Supabase — hosts our database, authentication, and image storage.
- Apple — Sign in with Apple and App Store services.
- The Movie Database (TMDB) — film and television metadata and artwork. This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB.
- Google Books — book metadata and covers.
These providers process data on our behalf under their own terms; we share only what's needed to deliver their function.
6. Data retention & deletion
We keep your information while your account is active. You're in control at all times, from inside the app:
- Export your library to a CSV file.
- Clear All Data to wipe your entries, ratings, reviews, favorites, lists, and friends while keeping your profile.
- Delete Account to permanently remove your account and associated data.
7. Security
Access to your data is protected by authentication and row-level security so that, in general, you can only read and modify your own records (and the limited social content others choose to share). No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information.
8. Children
The Ledger is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your region). We do not knowingly collect data from children under that age.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data. The in-app export and deletion tools cover most of these directly; for anything else, contact us.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected here with a new "Last updated" date.
